What the word holds
Sehnsucht joins sehnen, to long, with Sucht, an old word for sickness and craving. It is more than wanting. It is the ache for a place, a time, a state of being, or a meaning that seems just past the horizon, and that sometimes is not on any map.
English has no single word for it. Some call it yearning, or nostalgia for a home you have never seen. Most people feel it and have no name for it.
Why this place exists
The person who writes here has spent a life chasing knowledge across many fields. Each one taught something real. The longing stayed anyway.
So this is not a place of answers. It is for anyone carrying their own Sehnsucht: to think about it, to notice its shape, and to feel less alone with it. That is its only purpose.
The author stays anonymous, so that the words matter and the name does not.
